Lincoln – William Murray, Jr., 82, of Lincoln passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Thursday, November 23 at Elmhurst Extended Care Facility, Providence. He was the husband of 58 years to W. Caryl (Pender) Murray.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late William and Mary Elizabeth (Roscoe) Murray, he had lived in Lincoln for the past 55 years.

After serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga, Bill became a Construction Superintendent and worked on countless projects throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, including many schools and municipal buildings. He later worked as a home energy specialist for RISE Engineering in Cranston for 10 years before his retirement in 2001.

He was a 1953 graduate of West (now Shea) High School in Pawtucket, and had attended the Rhode Island School of Design and Roger Williams University.

Throughout his life, Bill was an active member of the community involved in church, scouting, coaching baseball, and he was always there for family and friends. He was longtime friends of Bill W. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. And most of all, Bill loved the sea as his favorite hobby was fishing.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Cara Marie Murray of North Providence; one son, William Murray, III and his wife, Susan (Grann) Murray of North Kingstown; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Murray) Lozeau and her husband, Paul of Johnston, and Allyson Nicole Murray and Andrew William Murray, both of North Kingstown; Caryl’s sister, Marilyn Thornton and her husband, William of Clifton Park, NY; Caryl’s brother, Thomas Pender and his wife, Elaine of Flanders, NJ; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, November 29 at 8:45 A.M. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Jude’s Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday 4-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Murray’s memory to the American Heart Association, P.O.
