Joan M. (Specht) Holland

North Attleboro, MA – Joan M. (Specht) Holland, 85, entered into eternal rest on March 25, 2017

   Joan was born and raised in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on May 19, 1931. She was the daughter of the late John R. and Bertha (Foehr) Specht of Quinnville, Rhode Island.

   Joan was an avid swimmer in her early years and engaged in other sports including tennis during her school years. After high school, she had her own radio talk show “Joan’s Town Talk” in Rhode Island back in the 1950’s before working as an Executive Secretary at Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Central Falls for over 20 years. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family, and would never pass on a trip to Twin River or Plainridge. She loved music, people, and sports, and also had a great love for interior design having worked for a local furniture company at one point.

   Joan spent many years living on Wild Acres Road on Falls Pond, North Attleboro and also Willow Trace in Plainville. Her last residence was Christopher Heights in Attleboro.

   Joan had a zest for life! She touched the hearts of all who knew her with her infectious smile, witty personality and flirtatious charm. She was a true gift from God. “One of a kind” who could light up a room with her presence. Joan was a class act. Everyone who knew Joan adored her. A wonderful soul who will never be forgotten.

   Joan is survived by her dear cousin, Marilyn Varden, and her two godchildren, William and Joanne Varden, all of Warwick, Rhode Island. She also leaves behind in “love and friendship” her adoptive family, the Reeds of North Attleboro, Michael, Mary Beth, McKenzie, Bailee and Macey.
