Lincoln - William J. McClurg, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024 in a rocking chair at the family's beloved A-frame house on Hog Island, RI, just the way he'd want it.
Bill was born on February 12, 1953 to the late Donald and Gabrielle (Peloquin) McClurg at Notre Dame Hospital, Central Falls. He grew up in Pawtucket, and attend St. Teresa's School until moving to Lincoln in 1964, where he was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1971.
Bill had various jobs before heading out to California, where he resided for thirteen years, making new friends, while always maintaining his friendships from home. Home called him back in 1988 to meet his new niece and reconnect with friends.
Bill was a carpenter by trade, but excelled as a painter. He was famously known for his impeccable painting skills and quality craftsmanship in carpentry. His last employment before retiring was building stores in shopping malls all across the country, traveling extensively.
His favorite place on Earth was Hog Island, where as kids, his sister Nancy and brother John lived all summer. He was able to do that again for the past three summers. He loved a roaring fire, and a cold beer, with great tunes playing in the background.
Bill is survived by his sister, Nancy McCaughey of Lincoln, and his brother Dennis McClurg of New York. He was the brother of the late Douglas McClurg and John McClurg. He was a loving father figure to his nephew Todd McClurg, and also leaves serveral nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by a special group of tight knit friends who called themselves "The Mochistes" - a group of guys who've been inseparable for over fifty years.
