Columbia, Maryland – William Stephen Capozzoli, 95, formerly of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, died Friday, January 26, 2018 at Harmony Hall Assisted Living, Columbia. He was the beloved husband of the late Sally E. (Horwedel) Capozzoli.
Born on February 27, 1922 in Providence, a son of the late Stephen and Ida (Millman) Capozzoli, he had lived in Old Saybrook near the ocean for many years, before moving to Maryland three years ago, under the oversight of one of his nephews.
Mr. Capozzoli was a Sales Manager for Exide Battery, before retiring.
He was a graduate of Brown University with a degree in Political Science, and was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army as a combat solider.
William continued his educational and international travel interests well into his eighties. With a “live and let live” philosophy, he was an interesting man with an outgoing and caring personality, genuinely interested in the lives of his family and friends. William led a very full life and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind two nephews, Martin Capozzoli and Kenneth Capozzoli, and wives Sharon and Lori Capozzoli. He also leaves his three stepdaughters Judy, Karen and Audrey and their families.
His funeral service will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial with military honors will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
