Willard J. Horton, 89, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Bernice K. (Fisher) Horton. They had been married for 49 years.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Willard D. and Mildred I. (Parahus) Horton.
After high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He proudly served his country from 1953-1957, ending his service as a Sergeant.
He then joined the workforce as a diesel mechanic. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Pawtuxet Athletic Club, and the East Providence Yacht Club. He enjoyed fishing, boating, racing, spending time with family and friends, and watching a good western whenever possible.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Margaret Leacy and Vivian Wilson.
Besides his wife Bernice, he is survived by two sons, Willard S. Horton and his wife Deborah and Timothy J. Horton and his wife Katie; four grandchildren, Nathan, Natalie, Megan, and Kimberly; and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Horton and David Gasper; and one sister, Kathleen Gross.
His funeral and burial will be private.
