Victoria (Peters) Doumato

Central Falls - Victoria Peters Doumato died at the age of 98 in Carlsbad, CA, on May 5, 2020, at the home of her daughter, Maia.  Born in Homs, Syria on April 7, 1922, to Boutros George Antoun and Khatun Khawayjian, she came to Rhode Island in 1952 with her husband, the late Very Rev. Abdulahad Gabriel Doumato, who was pastor of St. Ephraim's Syriac Orthodox Church in Central Falls RI for over 50 years.

Victoria is survived by her four children and their spouses: Gabriel Doumato and his wife Eleanor A. Doumato of Newport, RI, Maia Doumato Marangos and her husband Paul Marangos of Carlsbad, CA., Lamia Doumato of Washington, D.C., and Ephraim Doumato and his wife Louise Bucci Doumato of Cumberland, RI.

She was blessed with eight grandchildren whom she fed prodigally and cared for tirelessly: Alexandre Doumato, husband of Melissa Albee Doumato of East Greenwich, R.I., Madeline Doumato Gordon, wife of Jason Gordon of South Windsor, CT, Matthew Doumato, husband of Alyson Doumato of Cumberland, Peter Marangos, husband of Bridget Marangos of Washington, D.C., Amanda Doumato Silva, wife of Joseph Silva III of Rumford, RI, Victoria Marangos Cornett, wife of Kyle Cornett of San Angelo, Texas, Jennifer Doumato Lamy of East Greenwich, RI, and Vanessa Marangos of Washington, D.C.

Victoria lived to know and enjoy all of her fourteen great grandchildren:  Gabi and Sebastian Doumato, Jacob, Sophia and Emma Gordon, Gianni and Scarlett Doumato, Andre, Victoria and Julien Lamy, Audrey and William Cornett, and Paul and Katherine Marangos.  She was also "Auntie" to scores of nieces and nephews raised in the Rhode Island area.

She was the sister of Sara Peters Vartanian and the sister of the late Mary Peters Tasho and George Peters.

She will be laid to rest by her husband's side at a private burial in Swan Point Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Victoria's memory may be sent to St. Ephraim's Syriac Orthodox Church, 215 Washington Street, Central Falls, R.I. 02863.  Arrangements with Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
