Victor Goff Obituary

Pawtucket-  Victor W. Goff, 92, passed away quietly on Monday, April 14, 2025, after a short stay at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI.

He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor P. (Gravello) Goff .  They met in 1954 while he was serving in the US Navy in London, England. They spent 59 years together raising their family in Pawtucket. Ellie and Vic were always a team who worked together to build a great life for their family and friends.

Born in Gunnison, CO, he was the son of the late William T. Sr. and Annie (Chidlow) Goff. He moved away from his family in 1951 after joining the Navy but always remained connected through letters, phone calls and even his famous family update list of birthdays and other notable events. Vic was so proud of his family both near and far away.

Mr. Goff served on the USS Iowa during the Korean War, receiving the UN Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal (Bronze Star). He later worked as an administrator for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Providence until retirement and stayed engaged with coworkers’ post-retirement.

Mr. Goff relished the legacy of his ten grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren so far! His home is covered with their accomplishments. His Dash is full, (1932-2025) and he will be missed by all who have the pleasure of knowing him.

He was a kind man and an active member of St. Anthony Parish in North Providence. He cherished working with the church community and valued his friendships there. He made a difference in the lives of many young women through his volunteer efforts at The Holy Family Home where he supervised night-time activity and provided warmth and understanding.  He also was involved with parish committees, including Secretary of the Holy Name Society, Mary’s Meals Sandwich Ministry, Rectory Assistance, The Holiday Bazaar, The Flea Market, Coffee-An, and Young at Heart.

His second home was Frank’s Restaurant. He was well known within this community of friends, visiting frequently and appreciating a good meal with the staff whom he considered his friends. He looked forward to time with the people at Frank’s to relax and catch up on each other’s lives. If you were there with him, you likely saw him jump up to grab the check even if you were sitting at another table! To the very end, he wanted to make sure that others around him had what they needed.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ellie, his parents William and Annie, Sons Tommy and Scott, and his siblings, Lydia Ada Goff, Emily Fay Schmidt, William Toney Goff Jr., Fanny Louise Musgraves, John Wesley Goff, and Barbara Jean Graham.

He is survived by his three children: Kevin W. Goff and his wife Carol of Suffield, CT; Karen “Wiss” Andrews and her husband Alan of East Providence; and John Goff and his wife Mary of Warwick.

Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, April 23, 2025, from 10:00-11:30am.

His funeral will begin at 11:30am at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1081 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
