Vernie Pappas Obituary

Pawtucket - Vernie Pappas, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre, Cranston. Her family, and those at Cedar Crest, cared for her lovingly, and she will sorely be missed by anyone who knew her.

She was a lifelong memober of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Pawtucket, where she was a choir member in her younger days. She cherished her family, her faith, and her Greek heritage. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Paraskeve Pappas (Pappodopoulas). She leaves her beloved sister, Anastasia DeLuca (her late husband, Rocco). She was pre-deceased by her sister, Georgia Moretti, and brothers, William Pappas, his wife Bertha and children Michael, Stephen and Karen Pappas, Theodore A. Pappas and his wife Tuta, Michael Pappas and his wife Enid, Nicholas Pappas and his wife Theresa, and Alex Pappas.

She leaves her cherished nieces and nephews, Carol Pappas and her husband Robert McIntyre, Rocco DeLuca and his wife Ann Marie, Melissa Ferrara and her husband Kenneth, Vikki Kizirian and her husband Thomas, Pamela Doheny and her husband Frank, Marc Pappas and his wife Cheryl, Andrew T. Pappas and his wife Holly, Gregg Pappas and his wife Chris, Deborah Owens and her husband Dennis, and Alex's daughter, Susan.

She leaves many nieces and nephews and others who were like family to her.

Vernie enjoyed playing poker whenever possible! She loved her family, and was constantly praying for them. She had a extremely close relationship with her sister, Stasia. They were inseparable. Her loss is a great one, especially for her sister. She loved her faith and was comforted by the many prayers she knew surrounded her. She was blessed to have shared a room at Cedar Crest with June, who was a feisty contrast to the quiet and shy Vernie. They became close friends, and her family were also great to her, for which we are eternally grateful.
