Valerie B. Smith

Providence – Valerie B. Smith, 78, of Providence passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence.

   Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Elwood and Willette (Richardson) Smith, she had lived In Johnston before moving to Providence 29 years ago.

  Valerie worked as an office manager and secretary for the former New England Telephone Company and later Verizon for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

   She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Greenville, where she was also a member of its Choir and Altar Guild.

   She is survived by one son, Andrew R. Smith of Providence and one grandson, Zachery R. Mazzie-Smith of Watertown, MA.

   Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 20 at 11 A.M. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Her burial will follow in Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls.
