Lincoln - Timothy P. Cartwright, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2024 surrounded by loved ones at Lincolnwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, North Providence. Born in Central Falls and raised in Pawtucket, he was the youngest son of the late Elmer and Margaret (Broderick) Cartwright, and the beloved husband of Andrea J. (Wronoski) Cartwright for 59 years. He lived in Lincoln for 56 years.
Mr. Cartwright was a lifelong educator. He was the Registrar/Director of Part-Time Studies at Bryant College for 20 years and was a college instructor of accounting and business for 17 years at Bryant, Roger Williams University, and Johnson & Wales University. Prior to that he spent 4 years teaching business at Goff Jr. High School and Tolman High School in Pawtucket. His first job, as a kid, was as a paper boy for The Pawtucket Times. His last job, as a retiree, was as a newspaper delivery man for The Valley Breeze.
After graduating from Tolman High School, where he excelled in business, baseball and cross country, Tim went on to earn a B.S. from Bryant College, an MBA from the University of Rhode Island, and was a doctoral candidate at Nova University.
Tim enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved baseball, the beach, the company of big dogs, chocolate, crossword puzzles, golfing (poorly) and bantering with friends, gardening, and telling a good joke. Most of all, he loved his family - the one he was born into, the one he married into, the one he created, and the one he was blessed with. He adored his grandchildren, whom he delighted with entertaining activities and silliness, and loved being in their company. He was cherished as a great pal and advisor by his daughters. He will be best remembered for his love of family, kindness toward others, respect for good hard-working people, wacky sense of humor and fun, and the twinkle in his eye.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Cartwright of Whitefield, NH and Kelly A. Cartwright and her husband Mark Gordon of Narragansett, four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Margaret Ryan, Kenneth Cartwright, and Elmer Cartwright.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4-6PM at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Rd., Lincoln. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at St. Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Burial will be private.
