Thomas J. Flanagan

Cumberland - Thomas J. Flanagan, 78, died Sunday, June 16, 2024 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence as a result of lewy body dementia caused by his time serving in the United States Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Kyle) Flanagan, to whom he had been married for twenty-four years

Born in Pawtucket, he was the eldest son of the late Thomas and Jeannette (Plante) Flanagan. He had lived in Cumberland and Vero Beach Florida for many years.

Tom was a salesman all of his life. He loved to meet people and was known for his "gift of gab". He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He and Susan had many wonderful years together traveling and spending seven years in Vero Beach, Florida, and summering in Little Compton, until his disease took hold. He so loved his family and friends, and spent many happy times with them.

He spent his last year living at the Rhode Island Veterans Home, Bristol, and his family is grateful for the love and care he received from the staff there.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Flanagan of Pawtucket, and Brandi Flanagan of Cumberland; two sisters, Deborah Pelton of East Greenwich, and Lisa Villeneuve of Pawtucket; one brother, Stephen Flanagan of Brownsville, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Susan Purcell, Allen Flanagan, Daniel Flanagan and Brian Flanagan.

A Celebration of His Life will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 at 7:00 pm in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours prior to the service from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
