Cumberland – Theresa M. (Viau) Martin, 98, of Terrace Ave, died Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at The Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. She was the wife of the late Normand Thibert and the late James Martin.
Born in South Attleboro, Mass., a daughter of the late Ovila and Cordelia (Jacob) Viau. She was the sister of the late Ovila Viau Jr, Armand Viau and Gladys Viau. She lived her entire adult life in Cumberland RI.
Theresa was a graduate of Central Falls High School. Completing many other community-based Courses of Study. She enjoyed many years of square dancing, as well as being instrumental in organizing Girl Scout Troop 2 of Central Falls in which she was active for over 35 years. As a very active member of Woodlawn Baptist Church Pawtucket, she was involved for many years on Parish Committees. Her working life was long and fulfilling, culminating in her being the Office Manager at Machine Specialties in Lincoln, RI before retiring. After retirement, what made her truly happy was completing projects around the house and landscaping her property in the sunshine. She was never happier than when she was basking in the sun.
She is survived by her nephew Leo Tetreault, Sr. and his wife Marie; her niece Patricia Geoffroy and her husband Michael; and two grand nephews, Leo Tetreault Jr. and Ryan Seiber, and one grand niece, Nicole Volpe, and their families.
Her funeral will be held Monday, December 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Saint Stephen’s Cemetery, Attleboro. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours prior to the service on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Woodlawn Baptist Church, 337 Lonsdale Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02860 would be appreciated.
