Steven M. I. Janiak

Pawtucket - Steven Mark Ianiero Janiak went home to be with his Creator on August 8, 2025. Steven's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter and resilience. At the young age of 64, he left a memorable mark on all who knew him.

Born on September 7, 1960 in Providence, Steven was the cherished son of Pastor Elizabeth Ianiero Janiak and John Richard Janiak. Though his parents preceded him in death, his mother's faith, compassion and love for him never wavered.

Steven's memory lives on through his loving partner, Renee Haneiwich, who stood by him with unwavering devotion and care for over thirteen years; his only son, Adam Janiak and his wife Monika; his adored grandchildren, Jared and Ariana; his sisters, Bernadette Bessette, Valerie Curley and Caroline Janiak; and several nieces and nephews. His friends, who were like family to him, will also deeply miss him.

Steven's life was vibrant and full of adventure, creativity and faith. He had a passion for music, vacationing on cruise ships, savoring delicious meals with friends, and enjoying the simple pleasures like playing cards and sharing laughter with friends. His artistic spirit was expressed through his painting company and the two flower shops he owned over the years, and crafting delicious Italian meals in his kitchen. In his younger days, Steven had a knack for beating the odds in casinos, always emerging with the casino's money in his pocket, and, with it, a great story to tell. He had a sense of humor that could rival any comedian playing a showcase.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. in Living Waters Church, 251 Stillwater Road, Smithfield, at a place that was close to his heart that his parents founded and pastored. Coffee and pastries will follow directly after his Celebration within his Mother's church for friends and family to reminisce.

As Steven loved the ocean, Steven will be cremated, and his ashes will be set out to seas at sunset in a private ceremony.
