Pawtucket - Sheila J. (Tate) Neill, 91, of Pawtucket, died Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Highlands on the East Side, Providence. She was the loving wife of the late John B. Neill, Jr.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late George and Lilly (Metcalf) Tate, she was a lifelong resident of the city, and a graduate of Pawtucket West High School.
Mrs. Neill worked as a secretary in the Emergency Department at Miriam Hospital, retiring in 2002.
She enjoyed knitting, and for many years, would knits hats for newborn babies at Women & Infants Hospital, Providence. She was a communicant of the former Saint Maria Goretti Church, Pawtucket.
She is survived by two sons, John M. Neill and his wife Patricia of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Mark D. Neill and his wife Karen, of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Mark Neill, Lauren Izzo and Marikate Wells; and one great-grandson, Daniel Izzo. She was the sister of the late John Tate.
Her funeral and burial in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Providence Animal Rescue League, 34 Elbow Street, Providence, RI 02903, would be appreciated.
