Cumberland – Ruth M. (Wade) Plant, 93, of Leonard Street, died Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Woonoscket Health Center, Woonsocket. She was the beloved wife of the late Sidney Plant.
Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late John M. and Sadie (Brown) Wade, she had lived in Cumberland since 1959.
Mrs. Plant was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1943, and worked as a secretary for the former Elizabeth Webbing Mills, Central Falls, and the former Crown Yarn Dye Co., Attleboro, before retiring.
She was a member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, Pawtucket, and a member of the former Saint John’s Episcopal Church, Ashton, where she served on the Altar Guild, and was a member of the “Church Belles”. She was a member of the Queen Esther Chapter #2, Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy P. Hummel, and her husband John, of Uncasville, Connecticut; and two grandchildren, Scott E. Hummel, and his fiancée Catherine Connolly, of Hudson, New Hampshire, and Kristen E. Hummel of Uncasville, Connecticut. She was the sister of the late William Wade and Warren Wade.
Her funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104 would be appreciated.
