North Providence - Rocco A. DeLuca, 91, of Nipmuc Trail, died Tuesday, April 11, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at the home of his daughter. He was the beloved husband of sixty-five years of Anastasia (Pappas) DeLuca.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Rocco and Marguerite (Aurelio) DeLuca, he had lived in Pawtucket for thirty-eight years, moving to North Providence ten years ago.
Mr. DeLuca was the Assistant Director of the Rhode Island Department of Transportation for thirty-four years, and as Director of Public Works for the City of Providence, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of the American Association of State Transit Officials, the New England Association of Maintenance Engineers and a member of the Wanskuck Boys & Girls Club Hall of Fame.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Melissa Ferrara, and her husband Kenneth, of Warwick; one son, Rocco A. DeLuca, and his wife Anne Marie, of Fort Myers, Florida; two sisters, Geraldine Hartshorn of North Providence, and Sandra DeLuca of Smithfield; two brothers, Joseph DeLuca of North Providence, and Robert DeLuca; four granddaughters, three great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frank DeLuca, Virginia Cinquegrana and Alice Giolitto.
His funeral will be held Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Historic Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence. Burial with military honors will follow.
