Lincoln - Roberta A. (Harris) Brown, 96, of Louisquisset Pike, died Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Elwood, Indiana, a daughter of the late Robert and Lora (Frye) Harris, she had moved to Lincoln in her youth and graduated from Pawtucket East High School in 1945.
She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth J. Brown for 59 years beginning with their wedding on Christmas Day 1946. In the early years of marriage they lived in Japan, Germany and France as Ken was serving in the U.S Army. They traveled extensively in Europe and the U.S. with their young family until returning to Lincoln in 1967.
Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a wonderful hostess. Family gatherings brought her joy especially at Christmastime and birthdays. She was skilled in all kinds of sewing and needlework, especially quilting. She also enjoyed gardening and flower arranging. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in the Cumberland-Lincoln Community Chorus as well as the Chapel Street Church choir for many years. She volunteered her time with the Friends of Hearthside House and the Lincoln Garden Club, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a longtime active member of Chapel Street Congregational Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Brown of Lincoln, Patricia Drisko and her husband Robert of Lincoln, and Lori Anne Beagan, and her husband Kevin, of North Attleborough, Mass.; one son, Thomas J. Brown of Lincoln, and his former wife Christine; seven grandchildren, Erin Spurlock and her husband Dustin, Patrick Beagan and his wife Elizabith Costey, Brian Beagan, Gregory Beagan, Dylan Brown and his wife Hailey, Michael Brown and Jack Brown; and four great grandchildren Devon, Elijah, Zoey and Quinn. She was the sister of the late Mary Helbig and Carolyn Spencer and "Aunt Berta" to many nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving will be celebrated Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 1:00 PM in Chapel Street Congregational Church, 185 Chapel Street, Lincoln. Family and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Private burial will take place in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Friends of Hearthside, 757 Great Road, Lincoln, RI 02865 would be appreciated.
