Robert Martin Obituary

Robert (Bobby/Bob) Peter Martin passed away on August 21, 2024.

Bobby was born in Boston, Ma. on July 5, 1948 to Gloria D. (Goodwin) and James C. Martin. Bobby attended and graduated from Boston schools. During the 1980’s he made Woonsocket his home when he relocated to Rhode Island with his employer (Burnes of Boston). He was later employed at other area companies. Bobby was a huge Patriots and Red Sox fan, but loved all Boston sports teams.

Upon retirement Bobby enjoyed volunteering at the Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary.

After he became ill in March 2021, he was moved into The Holiday Retirement Home where “Bob” became engaged in his new surroundings making friends and keeping socially active. He especially enjoyed invited guests coming in to sing oldies and was particularly fond of Elvis’s music. He took pleasure in the company of Butterscotch the in-house cat and eating his daily Fluffernutter sandwich. Recognized for spreading laughter to all with his non-stop jokes, he was perhaps best known for being seen everywhere and anywhere around The Holiday. He was seldom found just sitting in his room.

Bobby leaves behind his loving siblings Carol, Jean, Keisha, Nancy, Angela, Virginia, and Paul, their respective spouses and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bobby was also predeceased by his sister Diana and brother Richard.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to all the Holiday Retirement Home staff with special kudos to section Newport 2 as well as the many resident friends who made Bobby’s final years memorable and final moments meaningful.

Thanks go to Bellows Funeral Chapel for their assistance. There will be no services. Interment will take place at a later date of the family’s choosing. If anyone so wishes, contributions may be sent to the Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary in his memory.
