Cumberland – Robert D. Corry, 87, of Shirley Drive, died Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy E. (Leach) Corry, who passed on December 29, 2019.
Born in Lincoln, a son of the late Robert S. and Marie (Cardin) Corry, he had lived in Cumberland for over fifty years.
Mr. Corry worked as a manager in the jewelry manufacturing business retiring four years ago. He was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where he ran on the track team, and was a brother in the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War. He enjoyed coaching his sons in their youth.
He is survived by two sons, Jay D. Corry, and his wife Amy-Beth, of Richmond, and James C. Corry of Sherman, Connecticut; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Corry, Molly Corry, and Sam Corry. He was the brother of the late Doris H. Nightingale.
His Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 120 Nate Whipple Highway, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Monday, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Private burial, with military honors, will take place in the spring in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Rhode Island, P.O. Box 7505, Cumberland, R.I. 02864 would be appreciated.
