Pawtucket - Richard C. Kent, 74, of Memorial Drive, formerly of Cumberland, died Saturday, January 14, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Amanda M. (O'Leary) Kent.
Born in Cumberland, a son of the late John and Amelia (Kolodziej) Kent, he had lived most of his life in Cumberland.
Mr. Kent was a custodian for the Cumberland School Department for twenty years before retiring. He was a graduate of Bryant College, where he earned Bachelor's Degrees in Logistics and Business.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Richard served during the Vietnam War.
He was a compassionate, generous and gentle person who loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed playing chess.
He is survived by one daughter, Gwyneth Kent, and her husband Robert Weigner, of Pawtucket; one son, Terence Kent of Cumberland; two brothers, John Kent and Robert Kent, both of Florida; and two grandchildren, Rowan A. Weigner and Riley Weignar.
A prayer service will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call prior to the service from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Boulevard, Suite 3004, Warwick, R.I. 02886 would be appreciated.
