MANVILLE- Richard W. Courtemanche, 88, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 at The Holiday Retirement Nursing Home, Manville. He was the husband of the late Barbara Courtemanche and the late Lena Courtemanche. He was also the longtime companion of Madeleine Pate. Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Mary (Dziedzic) Mieczkowski and the late John B. Courtemanche. He worked as a foreman for Narragansett Coated Paper Co. before his retirement.
An avid card player, Richard enjoyed many games and tournaments at the Cumberland Senior Center. He was a huge Red Sox and Patriots fan and loved going to Bally’s Casino to give the slots a try! Most of all, Richard would never pass up going out for breakfast or lunch for hot weiners.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John, his two wives, Barbara and Lena, his daughter MaryEllen Courtemanche and five of his siblings, John and Robert Courtemanche, Barbara Malloy, Nancy Grylls and James Mieczkowski.
He is survived by his son, Richard W. Courtemanche, Jr. and his wife Kimberly; three siblings, Joan Lombardi, William Courtemanche and Mary Lynn Booker; four grandchildren, Kara, Mckayla, Brandon and Nicole and five great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation from 2:00-4:00PM on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to The Holiday Retirement Home Activities Department, 30 Sayles Hill Road, Manville, RI 02838 would be appreciated.
