Richard Burton Obituary

Fairhaven, Mass. - Richard C. Burton, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and proud Navy veteran, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023, at the age of 73. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Bennice) Burton for fifty-one years.

Born on February 27, 1950, in Gloversville, New York, he was the son of the late Richard and Dolores Burton. Throughout his life, he embraced countless adventures and cherished memories with his family and friends with a particular love of the outdoors. From his beginnings in Gloversville, Richard's journey led him through various places, including Mansfield, Connecticut, North Attleborough, Massachusetts, and Plymouth, Massachusetts, before finding his final home in Fairhaven ten years ago.

Richard was a successful project manager for Meridian Custom Homes, where his dedication and expertise helped bring countless dreams to life. His passion for construction and his attention to detail were evident in every project he undertook.

As much as Richard loved his work, his true joy came from his family. He and his beloved wife, Patricia (Bennice) Burton, shared fifty-one beautiful years together, filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Patricia was his anchor, his confidant, and his partner in every sense of the word. Richard loved life, fine wine, and fresh seafood. He was happiest by the ocean or sitting with his family and grandchildren on his back deck

Richard's daughters, Johanna and Leslie were the light of his life. He treasured their presence and nurtured their dreams with unwavering support and guidance. Richard took immense pride in his grandchildren, Ronan and Madeline, who brought him immeasurable joy and happiness. He had a special place in his heart for his loyal silky terrier, Mick, who brought him great comfort and companionship throughout his life.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Johanna Burton of Willimantic, Connecticut, and Leslie Quish, and her husband Craig, of Lincoln, Rhode Island; four sisters, Pamela DiMaio and her husband Joseph, of Gloversville, New York, Claudia Burton of Johnstown, New York, Kimberly Burton and her husband Steven Snyder of Greenfield Center, New York and Cindy Burton of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Timothy Burton of Johnstown, New York; and two grandchildren, Ronan Quish and Madeline Quish.
