Peter Adam Obituary

Cumberland – Peter A. Adam, 57, of Cumberland entered eternal rest with his Lord after a courageous battle with leukemia, while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. Peter was the husband of Margaret M. (Benoit) Adam for over 33 years. Along with his beloved wife, he left his children Nicholas Adam and his wife Justynn of Manville, and Jennifer Adam and her boyfriend Dylan Holander of Manville. He is also survived by his brother Raymond Adam and his wife Gail of Woonsocket, his sister Denise Adam-Berard of Manville, his twin brother Paul Adam of Woonsocket, and his brother Roger Adam and his wife Angela and their son Roland Adam of Johnston. Peter’s pride and joy on this earth was being “Grampy” to Skye and Luca Adam. He was preceded in death by his parents Roland O. “Dice” and Gertrude M. (Poirier) Adam, his mother-in-law Lucille Benoit, and his prematurely born sons, Gregory, Patrick and Joseph. In addition to being an inspirational family-man, he was a fierce friend and always the “life of the party”.

Peter dedicated his work-life to the fire service, serving as a volunteer fire-fighter and on the rescue of the Manville Fire Department (MFD) beginning in 1985. He remained an active member of MFD until he left in 1997. Hired by the Albion Fire Department in 1990, he retired as a Captain and a member of Local 3023 after 27 years. Returning to the MFD in 2006 as Chief 1 was the highlight of his career where he mentored and served as an elite role-model for countless individuals. “Life’s about choices” was Peter’s life-motto, and his character was truly defined by this.

Peter’s immediate family would like to extend their most sincere thank you to all extended family members and friends, including the unmatched support of his MFD family, for their unwavering support throughout Peter’s fight.
