Cumberland - Perry Howard Josephson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Army veteran, and faithful servant of his church community, passed away peacefully on Easter Day, April 5, 2026, after a long and blessed life. He was 91 years old.
Born on December 11, 1934, to Howard and Mildred Josephson, Perry grew up in Providence and graduated from Classical High School and the University of Rhode Island. Over many decades, he steadfastly built a successful career as an engineer, working for Grinnell Corporation and Stone & Webster Engineering.
Within the Four Corners Community Chapel, Perry found his true sense of belonging and purpose. A devoted and long-standing member for more than 60 years, he served as a deacon, lifted his voice in the church choir, and generously applied his engineering and business acumen to support the church's growth and expansion. To his church community, he gave generously of his time, talents, and resources and made the kind of genuine, enduring investments that quietly shape a place of worship for generations to come.
Beyond the Four Corners Chapel Choir, Perry and Barbara shared a love of music and both sang for years in the Cumberland-Lincoln Community Chorus.
Perry was preceded in death by his beloved wife and light of his life, Barbara (Stewart), with whom he shared a devoted marriage and built a life defined by family and faith. He is survived by his loving daughter, Heidi; son, Erik and wife Carolyn; grandsons, Ethan and wife Sonia and Taylor and wife Jaymi along with their two daughters, Maya and Sydney. He is also survived by his sister, Janice Stone, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10:00 am in Four Corners Community Chapel, 200 Angell Road, Cumberland. A Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving will immediately follow at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited.
