Warwick - Patricia A. (Buckley) Armitage, 79, of Warwick died Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Miriam Hospital, Providence.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Richard I. and Annie R. (Hunter) Buckley, she had lived in Warwick for many years.
Patricia was a teacher in the Scituate School Department for many years, teaching Science, Mathematics and Chemistry at Scituate High School and Scituate Jr. High School. She also served as Head of the Science Department for much of that time.
She volunteered her time in leadership roles for numerous organizations. In her childhood years, she was a member of the International Order of Rainbow Girls, and was elected Worthy Advisor. She was a devout member of the Girl Scouts, achieving the rank of Ambassador. As an adult she volunteered with numerous worthy organizations, particularly the Blackstone Valley Historical Society, where she served as President, Past-President and Archivist, and contributed to the cause in many ways. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pawtucket.
Patricia enjoyed creating beautiful still-life artwork in her younger years, and throughout her life enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, knitting gifts for her family, reading mystery stories, and companionship with her cats. She was delighted by spending her summers on Prudence Island. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters, whom she loved dearly and took great pride in.
She is survived by her son, W. David Armitage V, and his wife Jennifer, of Exeter, her sister, Carol Graves, and her husband Paul, of Warwick; two brothers, Richard Buckley, Jr. and his wife Cindy, of Lincoln, and David Buckley, and his wife Diane, of Florida; many nieces and nephews, and two granddaughters, Kaylie Armitage and Genevieve Armitage.
Her life will be celebrated Saturday, May 25, 2024 with a funeral service at 12 Noon in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Family and friends are invited, and visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10:30 am - 12 Noon.
