Lincoln- On Friday, June 28, 2024, Norman McCaw, 97, a lifelong resident of Lincoln passed away at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Janet (Yates) McCaw. The son of the late John and Elsie (Calvert) McCaw.
At the age of 17, Norman enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Midway aboard its maiden voyage. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he re-enrolled in Pawtucket East Senior High School and earned his high school diploma.
Over the years, Norman worked as a driver/salesman for Coca-Cola, Ward Baking Co., and later retired from Plainville Stock Co.
Norman was a member of the Mount Moriah Lodge #8 F & AM (Unity Lodge) for over 75 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Meredith E. Cawley, and Deborah J. Theriault, and her husband Paul, all of Lincoln, one brother, Donald McCaw, and his wife Janet, of Walterboro, South Carolina; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Gilbert, Robert, and James McCaw; and the father in law of the late Steven T. Cawley.
Dad loved working in his yard and spending time at the ocean. He was a passionate harmonica player and where there was music, Dad would join in.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 11am in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 am followed by a Masonic Memorial Service at 10:30 am.
