North Providence - Norman J. Cote, Ir, 89, of Derby Avenue, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep at home on January 21, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 69 years of the late Eleanor (Wright) Cote.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the only child of the late Norman J. and Eleanor (Havey) Cote. He had resided in North Providence for the past 33 years.
Norman worked as a salesman in the building supply industry for Kenney Building Products. He also worked for McConnell & Carpenter as a salesman of Christian jewelry and items to shrines and churches. His territory was the entire United States. Norman traveled and experienced all 50 states. He had been a realtor since the 70's and had maintained his Brokerage License.
After retiring in 2005, he became a volunteer at the VFW Euart Post 602 where he was a larger than life personality for 20 years. Fondly known simply as "Cote" he happily worked on all aspects of the fund-raising events.
Norman was very close to his children who viewed him as a friend, mentor and confidant. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia R. Mathieu, and her husband James of Central Falls; two sons, Donald F. Cote of Central Falls, and Michael P. Cote, and his wife Michelle of North Providence. He was also the father of the late Ronald N. Cote of Florida.
He was Pepere to five grandchildren. Ronald J. Goffe of Cumberland, Tamara DeOliveira of Virginia, Nichole Cote of Central Falls, David Cote of Florida, and Johnathon Cote of Florida. Norman also leaves 11 great grandchildren. Norman also leaves a brother-in-law, Robert E. Wright of Florida. They were the last two survivors of their generation and life-long friends.
To honor his memory a Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, between the hours of 1-3 followed by a prayer service at 3PM at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Rd., Lincoln. Please omit flowers
