South Attleboro - Matthew J. Federico, 42, of South Attleboro, MA passed away peacefully Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.
Born in Providence, a son of Kenneth and Deborah (Lee) Federico of South Attleboro, where he resided for most of his life, and previously lived in Providence and West Warwick, RI.
Matt was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy in 2008. He started his career working as a pharmacist at CVS, but also practiced pharmacy at several other locations and specialties throughout his career: Kent Hospital, Genoa Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Costco, Cardinal Health, and most recently as the pharmacy manager for Walgreens in Rumford, RI. He precepted pharmacy students from URI College of Pharmacy, and was also a member of the Certified Diabetes Outpatient Educators of RI (CDOE) and the Rhode Island Pharmacist's Association.
Matt enjoyed volunteering, coaching with the West Warwick Youth Soccer Association, serving as a diabetes educator in Rhode Island, and running immunization clinics in the community. He was an avid Boston sports fan, who attended and followed many Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics games since he was a child. Many remember him for wearing his Red Sox and Patriots attire, including his Boston Red Sox World Series hat. He is beloved and well-respected by his family, friends and co-workers, who would often describe him as a great friend and family man with a warm smile who always thought of everyone else before himself and would never forget someone's birthday. His daughter Savannah was his entire world and cherished every moment they spent together. Matt enjoyed taking her to dance, swimming, soccer games, visiting parks, ice cream shops, and having breakfast together every month at T's Restaurants in Rhode Island.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Savannah Federico; his brother, Christopher Federico of Providence, and his former spouse, Crystal Federico, with whom he shared a strong commitment to lovingly raise their daughter Savannah together.
