Obituary

PAWTUCKET- Mary Ellen (Ward) Rivet, 75, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Riverview Health Center, Coventry. She was the beloved wife of Kevin M. Davis. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Dyer) Ward. She had lived in Pawtucket since 2004. Previously she resided in Warwick, and before that on Long Island.

Mary Ellen was very smart and completed the last two years of high school in one year. She worked many years as an AT&T switchboard operator. When her children were still small she went to college and graduated with honors in special-ed.

Before she married the father of her children, Arthur Rivet, she was a big fan of NASCAR Modified races. She helped form a fan club for her favorite driver, Charlie Jarzombek, and wrote a newspaper column that covered the Long Island and the surrounding area short-track racing scene.

She taught as a Special-Ed substitute teacher in Rhode Island for three years. Later, she worked for what is now the Omni Hotel in Providence as a room service agent. Throughout this time, Mary Ellen cared for her disabled daughter for 33 years with the help of CNA Jacqueline Dorley.

Mary Ellen and her husband Kevin, met thru an online dating site in 2013, enjoyed two cruises to the islands, attended many music concerts, and Mary Ellen even conquered her fear of heights, by taking a hot-air balloon ride in New Hampshire. In 2016, she took her son Keith and his family to Disney World, FL.

Besides her husband, Kevin, she is survived by her loving children, Danielle Rivet of Providence and Keith A. Rivet of Vermont; two cherished grandchildren, Tanner Chase Rivet and Natalie Rivet; and two caring brothers, John Ward of Florida and Christopher Ward of Long Island, NY.
