Cumberland – Marjorie E. (Bertenshaw) Boyce, 96, of Cumberland, died Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the Holiday Retirement Home, Lincoln, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert S. Boyce.
Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late John and Florence (Davies) Bertenshaw, she had lived in Cumberland for most of her life. She was a graduate of Cumberland High School, Class of 1944, and Bryant & Stratton College.
Mrs. Boyce worked as a Human Resource Specialist in the Benefits Section of Amica Mutual Insurance Co. for 21 years before retiring.
She was a lifelong member of Christ Church, Lincoln, where she taught Sunday School, worked in the Thrift Shop and was a member of the Altar Guild. She loved to travel, anywhere, anytime. She enjoyed taking a cruise or visiting friends and family. Her most memorable trip was traveling cross country with her late husband for their 40th anniversary.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Boyce of Lincoln; four sons, William Boyce and his wife Patricia of Seal Rock, Oregon, John “Jack” Boyce and his wife Susan of Bradenton, Florida, Robert “Bob” Boyce and his wife Marilyn of Cumberland and David Boyce and his wife Lisa of Cumberland. Her beloved grandchildren, Keith, Noelle, Lauren Brooke, Heather, Joshua, Andrew, Katelyn and Reilly; and her great grandson Cameron who was the light of her life for the past 2 years. She was the sister of the late Florence Grayson and Arlene Burke.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln with a Requiem Eucharist at 11:00 a.m. in Christ Church, 1643 Lonsdale Avenue, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
