Woonsocket – Mario DiCandia, 92, of Woonsocket passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Marie A. (DiLuglio) DiCandia.
Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Charles and Louise (Vittorelli) DiCandia, he had lived in Woonsocket all of his life.
Mr. DiCandia worked as a carpenter and a welder for General Dynamics before retiring. He was a member of Norwood (MA) Local #535, Carpenters Union.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish, formerly Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Woonsocket.
He is survived by one daughter, Maria Hutchinson and her husband Jay of Millville, MA; two sisters, Anne Remillard and Carmel DiCandia, both of Woonsocket; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joan Bruno, Frank DiCandia, Aniello DiCandia, Victor DiCandia and Thomas DiCandia.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 10 A.M. in Holy Trinity Parish, formerly Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Avenue, Woonsocket. His burial will be private in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
