Pawtucket - Maria M. (Maciel) DaSilva, 85, formerly of Pawtucket, died Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Rhode Island Hosptial, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose I. DaSilva.
Born in Pico, Acores, a daughter of the late Jose Augusto and Esmeralda Ramos (DaSilva) Maciel, she had lived in Pawtucket for most of her life.
Mrs. DaSilva worked as a braider for Colonial Mills, Pawtucket, before retiring to care for her family.
She is survived by three daughters, Manuela Barbosa of Seekonk, Martha Correia of Cumberland, and Andrea Ware of Rehoboth; six sons, Jose Silva of East Providence, Luis DaSilva of Swansea, Mass., ,Gil DaSilva of Portsmouth, Helio DaSilva of Pawtucket, Nelson DaSilva of Seekonk, and Steven DaSilva of Seekonk; three sisters, Sara Melo of Pawtucket, Irene Jorge of Pawtucket, and Fatima Furtado of Portugal; four brothers, Jose Estacio Maciel of Pawtucket, Jose Antonio Maciel of California, Henrique Maciel of Portugal and Guillermo Maciel of Portugal; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Marlene Davis, and the grandmother of the late Joshua Silva and Devin DaSilva.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 9:00 AM from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Seekonk Cemetery, Seekonk. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours on Thursday from 9:00 - 10:00 AM.
