Maria Bergeron Obituary

Cumberland - Maria (Cabral) Bergeron passed away on March 25, 2026. Born to Sotero and Leopoldina Cabral, Maria grew up in Pawtucket and graduated from Tolman High School in 1960.

Maria was a dedicated professional who spent many years as the Accounts Payable Manager for Ann & Hope. Ever a lifelong learner, she later earned certificates in electrolysis and reflexology, sharing those talents with clients at Reviva Salon.

In October 1962, she married the love of her life, Normand Bergeron. Together they built a beautiful life in a marriage that spanned 60 years until Normand's passing in April 2022.

Maria was a woman of vibrant interests and deep kindness. A lifelong music enthusiast, her love for "The King" started early; she served as the President of the Pawtucket Elvis fan club while still in school. Throughout her life, she remained an avid fan of Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond, frequently attending concerts to hear her favorite songs live.

When she wasn't listening to music, Maria could often be found gardening and crocheting. She had a talent for creating beauty with her hands, whether in her yard or through her needlework. She was an insatiable reader who cherished a good book. She was an active and social member of the Red Hat Society of Northern RI. Maria had a soft spot for all animals, but she was particularly devoted to her beloved cats, Pierre, Mocha Latte, Smudgy, Mama Audacious and LGC.

Maria's legacy lives on through her family. She is survived by her brother, Fernando Cabral and his wife Linda, and her sister-in-law, Joyce Cabral. She was the cherished aunt of seven nieces and nephews, Fatima Miller (Thomas), Elizabeth O'Hara (David), and Antonio Cabral, Daniel Cabral (Deborah), David Cabral (Terri), Christopher Cabral (Kathy) and Matthew Cabral (Elizabeth). She also is loved by 13 great nieces and nephews and 7 great great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Normand, as well as her brothers, Jose Cabral (husband of Joyce) and Antonio Cabral (husband of Nazareth).

Her funeral will be held Friday, April 17, 2026 at 9:00 AM from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Saint Ambrose Church, 191 School Street, Albion.
