Cumberland – Lucille (Pieri) Martin, 92, of Cumberland, died Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the Highlands on the East Side, Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John C. Martin, Jr.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Louis A.R. and Mildred (Arnold) Pieri, she had lived in Cumberland since 1954.
Mrs. Martin was a graduate of Pembroke College, Providence. She served on the Cumberland Conservation Commission for over thirty years, was a member of the Cumberland Garden Club, was a charter member of Abbott Run Valley Club, Cumberland, and served as a Girl Scouts troop leader. She was a member of Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, Cumberland.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl A. Thompson of Glastonbury, Connecticut, and Barbara J. Martin, of Pawtucket; two sons, John L. Martin, and William D. Martin, both of Cumberland; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Louis Arnold Pieri.
A Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving will be held Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, 690 Nate Whipple Highway, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Private burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Franklin Farm Community Garden, P.O. Box 7943, Cumberland, R.I. 02864 would be appreciated.
