Lois Lyle Obituary

Lincoln – Lois A. Lyle, 91, of Lincoln, died Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Holiday Retirement Home, Lincoln.  She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Lyle.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Mildred (Dunbar) Smith, she had lived in Lincoln for over sixty years.  She was a proud graduate of Pawtucket West High School

Mrs. Lyle was the Director of Special Projects for the Blackstone Valley Community Action Program before retiring.

She was a longtime parishioner of Chapel Street Congregational Church, Lincoln, where she volunteered in the Thrift Store and served on the Diaconate.  She was a life member of the Lime Rock Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.  She was one of the first patients in the Memory & Aging Program at Butler Hospital, under the care of Dr. Salloway.

She is survived by five daughters, Nancy A. Roderick, and her husband Edward, of Florida, Joyce Lyle-Freeman, and her companion Thomas O’Sullivan, of Florida, Christine Canham, and her husband David, of Lincoln, Jean M. Townsend, and her husband Timothy, of Foxborough, Mass. And Susan M. Pawlina, and her husband Christopher, of Woonsocket; three sons, Hon. John W. Lyle, Jr., and his wife Lori, of Lincoln, Robert D. Lyle, and his wife Jeanne, of Pawtucket, and Alexander Lyle, and his wife Eve, of Oregon; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Paul Scheele, of New Bern, N.C.; her sisters-in-law, Bonnie Smith of Little Compton and Ginny Lyle of Charlestown; and several nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Doris Bagley, Gail Scheele and John W. Smith.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to Chapel Street Congregational Church, 185 Chapel Street, Lincoln, R.I. 02865, or to Kindred Hospice, 2374 Post Road, Suite 206, Warwick, R.I. 02886, would be appreciated.  Arrangements with Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
