North Smithfield – Lillian G. (Bellemer) Murphy, 79, of Rhodes Avenue, died Friday, March 27, 2020 at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. She was the beloved wife of the late James E. Murphy.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Royal and Gertrude (Gray) Bellemer, she had lived in Chepachet and Lonsdale, moving to Winter Haven, Florida after retirement.
Mrs. Murphy worked for the State of R.I. Department of Human Services as a fiscal clerk in the Vocational Rehabilitation Unit and as a typist in the Disability Hearing Unit, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Lincoln, where she served as a former trustee, and was a member of the Chepachet Grange. She was an avid square dancer and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlework, was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and also enjoyed crafts, bowling, playing dominos and cribbage.
She is survived by one daughter, Debra Beauvais, and her husband Barry, of Naugatuck, Connecticut; two sons, Mark McLaughlin, and his wife Camille, of Warwick, and Eric McLaughlin, and his wife Nicole, of North Smithfield; one brother, Gordon Bellemer of Hyannis, Massachusetts; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Royal Bellemer.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Wesley United Methodist Church, 55 Woodland Street, Lincoln. Relatives and friends are invited. Private burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to Wesley United Methodist Church, 55 Woodland Street, Lincoln, R.I. 02865 would be appreciated.
