North Providence - Lillian H. (DeCosta Leiter) Anatone, 98, of North Providence, died Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Tockwotton on the Waterfront, East Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late John J. Anatone.
Born in Seekonk, Mass., a daughter of the late Marion and Mary (Amaral) Leiter, she had resided in North Providence for nearly seventy years.
Mrs. Anatone was the owner and President of Anatone Jewelry and Ocean State Creations until her retirement.
Lillian was a wonderful and loving woman who devoted her life to her husband and family. Nothing made her happier than having her children and grandchildren around the dinner table at her home. She brought the best of Portuguese and Italian cuisine to the table at every meal, even if you dropped by for a brief visit. Her smiles filled the room as she embraced and fussed over us, making us feel like we were the only people in the world.
Lillian was an avid puzzler who always had a card table set up for jigsaw puzzling as she watched her beloved Red Sox on television. She spent a lot of time with her grandchildren going apple picking, occasional sleepovers, playing cards and games. They often helped her with puzzles. When she wasn't with her family, Lillian would spend time with her best friend, Helen, and take trips to the casinos. In her later years, when her great grandchildren came along, her face would literally glow when she saw them. Holding them as babies, and watching as they grew up was such a delight to her. We all have been impacted by the life and love poured out by this wonderful woman who we call mom, mother-in-law, grandma and great grandma. She has made us all better for being in our lives. We will miss her dearly.
We wish to thank the staff at Tockwotton on the Waterfront, who were her caregivers in the last years of her life. Their care and devotion gave her friendship, comfort and dignity and we are truly grateful for all they have done.
She is survived by three sons, Richard Anatone and his wife Barbara, of Lincoln, Robert Anatone and his wife Jean, of North Providence, and John J. Anatone, Jr. and his wife Stephanie, of Lincoln; ten grandchildren, Sheri Samos (Paul), Michelle Favalaro (Frank), Christine Anatone (Zack Rounds), Robert Anatone, Jr. (Nicole), Melissa Sciotti (Matt), Dr. Richard Anatone, (Kirsten), Brenna Anatone Force, Esq. (Evan), Dr. Kayla Anatone-Ruiz (Derek), Dr. Alex Anatone, MD (Becca) and Kyle Anatone; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gertrude Plumpton, Richard, Leonard and Edward Leiter.
Her funeral will be held Friday, January 16, 2026 at 9:00 AM from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Saint Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence.
