Lincoln - Lana L. (Rao) Amodei, 77, of Lincoln, passed Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of Gerald A. Amodei. Mr. & Mrs. Amodei had been married for fifty-six years.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late George and Lucia (Aceto) Rao, she had lived in Lincoln for the past fifty-four years.
Mrs. Amodei was co-owner, with her husband, of Carcieri’s Supermarket, Providence, where they dedicated thirty-five years of hard work and love for their employees, customers, and community. She was adored by all, and loved her employees like her own. She was past President of the Rhode Island Food Dealers’ Association, and was voted National Women’s Grocer of the Year, a distinction that she honorably accepted.
In her adolescent years, she enjoyed the clubs and organizations offered at North Providence High School. A natural born leader and a woman always canny with her money, she was treasurer of her high school class. In these early years, her relationship with her beloved husband, Jerry, blossomed. They went on to achieve many joys in their life, including raising two children and dedicating their family time to many hockey games and ballet performances. She enjoyed her tennis days played at ForeCourt and MacColl Field. Years later were lovingly dedicated to her involvement with her two granddaughters and their many academic and athletic accomplishments, in which she was always in attendance. Lana also cherished her time spent with her sister and niece, as she watched them both develop into esteemed artists, respectively. She was a communicant of Saint Jude Church, Lincoln, for fifty-four years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Jerilyn Peppes, and her husband William, of Lincoln; one son, James Amodei, and his wife Louanne, of Cranston; one sister, Mary Ann Mayer of Oklahoma; and two granddaughters, Meredith Peppes and Martha Peppes.
