Joyce E. (Sirois) Skawinski

Cumberland - Joyce Elizabeth (Sirois) Skawinski, 81, of Cumberland, passed away on September 15, 2024. She was born in Pawtucket on July 28, 1943 to Ella (Reid) and Joseph Henry Sirois, Sr. She attended Newport Beauty School. She was the proud owner of Joyce's Beauty Salon on Broadway in Pawtucket for more than 25 years.

She is survived by her children John Skawinski, Jr.(Christine), Jo-Ann Larivee, and Lisa LaScola; grandchildren Samantha Bernardo (Jeffrey), Andrew Larivee, Steven McNeil, Marlee Skawinski, Paige Sexton (Jonathon), Hailey Martins (Brett), Nickolas LaScola, Nathan Skawinski, Andrea Skawinski, and Lucas LaScola; and great-grandchildren Henry Hardiman, Lola Bernardo, James Bernardo, Joshua Sexton, Samantha Larivee, and Jaime Coughlin.

She was one of ten children and is survived by siblings Olive Dunphy, Robert Sirois, Mary Sirois, Catherine Johnson, Raymond Sirois, and Brenda Matteson.
She was predeceased by her son, Jaime Skawinski, grandson, Thomas Larivee, husband, William Davies III, former husband, John Skawinski Sr., and her brothers, Joseph Henry Jr., Gary, and Craig Sirois.

Joyce enjoyed being part of a big family. She loved being the big sister, having many family gatherings in her early years.
She attended Catholic school as a child and was devoted to her faith. A single mom, she worked hard to provide for her four children. As a woman in the 70s, she was proud to have owned her own business, purchased her own home, and bought a new car.

Joyce enjoyed visiting the beach, spending many summers creating family memories with her children at East Matunuck State Beach, and in her childhood years at the Jersey Shore. In her younger years, she loved roller skating and won many roller skating dance competitions at Bobby's Rollerway in Pawtucket. She was an avid QVC shopper, often creating obstacles to get into her house.

She was a big music fan and enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley, Engelbert Humperdinck, and Roy Orbison. Joyce was also a huge movie buff, and her kids and grandkids have fond memories of getting together, eating pizza, and watching movies at her house.

Her funeral will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in the Historic Saint Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Private burial will take place in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
