Manville – Joseph E. Lanctot, 85, of Manville, died Monday, July 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine E. (Laurence) Lanctot, to whom he was happily married for the past sixty years until her passing on June 9th. Joseph and Loraine shared a beautiful love, and their relationship set an example for all who knew them. Although they will be sorely missed, their family takes great comfort in knowing that they are reunited.
Born in Albion, a son of the late Louis and Clarinda (Gagnon) Lanctot, he has lived in Manville for his entire married life.
Mr. Lanctot worked as a machinist for the Draper Corporation, Hopedale, Mass, and in the same capacity at the Forte Cashmere Company, Woonsocket, before retiring.
A U.S. Army veteran, Joseph served his country during peacetime from 1960-1962. He was a member of the Albion Social Club, and a communicant of Saint James Church, Manville.
He is survived by four sons, Peter Lanctot and his wife June of Foxborough, Mass, James Lanctot and his wife Karen of Woonsocket; Daniel Lanctot and his wife Leslie of Central Village, Conn., and Joel Lanctot and his wife Laurie of Manville; one sister, Claire Creighton of Falmouth, Mass.; and two brothers, Francis Lanctot of The Villages, Florida, and Aldor Lanctot of San Antonio, Texas. He also leaves eight cherished grandchildren, Kristina Lanctot, Aimee Desmeule, Allie Lanctot, Evan Lanctot, Adam Lanctot, Nick Lanctot, Ian Lanctot and Noah Lanctot as well as one cherished great grandchild, Hanna Desmeule. He was the brother of the late Romeo Lanctot, Edouard Lanctot, Lucien Lanctot, Louise Holobesco, Doris Marchand, Leon Lanctot and Raymond “Pete” Lanctot, and the father-in-law of the late Patricia (Messore) Lanctot.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 9:00 amfrom Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville. Burial will follow in Saint James Cemetery. Family and friends are invited andmay attend visiting hours on Tuesday from 9:00-10:00 am at the funeral home.
