Jonathan "Jon" Alexander Wright, 59, of North Providence, RI, and formerly of Lincoln, RI, died suddenly on Sunday, March, 23, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Donna Rocchio-Wright.
Born in Providence to the late George and Ethel (Nordin) Wright, he was the youngest of ten children. Jon grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1983. While in HS, he also volunteered with the Lime Rock Fire Department. He joined the US Army and served during the Persian Gulf War as a flight engineer on Chinook helicopters for five years.
Upon his return to Lincoln, Jon worked for the Lincoln Public Works Department while resuming his service with the Lime Rock Fire Department, eventually retiring as a Captain after 35+ years of service. Throughout his personal and professional life, Jon displayed a remarkable passion for helping others in their time of need. He was a true gentleman with a firm handshake whose infectious smile lit up every room he walked into.
Jon had a great love for his country and was mindful of and thankful for the freedom we enjoy as a result of the sacrifices made by all who have served. In addition, he was a car enthusiast, a WWII history buff who enjoyed watching the History Channel, National Geographic, and all types of movies, especially his favorite Jaws. Jon had a great love for all types of music, practicing at the shooting range, boating on Narragansett Bay, and golfing. Most of all, Jon enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. Donna will always cherish the memories she and Jon shared during their time spent together.
Jon is survived by his wife Donna, his daughter Alyssa Wright of Lincoln, RI, and his siblings David Wright of Pawtucket, Ann Johnson of Lincoln, Bill Wright and his wife Sue of North Kingstown, Christine Maino of Lincoln, Richard Wright and his wife Ann Sasso of Lincoln, Mary Jane and her husband William Crusselle of Palmetto FL, Martha and her husband Dale Wallick of Lincoln, and Janet and her husband Jack Johnson of North Attleboro. In addition, he is survived by Donna's parents Michael and Barbara Rocchio of Narragansett, RI, his brother-in-law Michael and his wife Kathy Rocchio of Saunderstown, RI, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
