Lincoln - John Albert McClurg, 62, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
Born in Central Falls and raised in Lincoln, he was the son of the late Donald R. and Gabrielle (Peloquin) McClurg and the former husband of Connie (Young) McClurg.
John was a talented carpenter and craftsman and could do unbelievable things with his wood. His handiwork from over 20 years with Mandeville Signs can be seen all throughout the Rhode Island area and reaches across the nation.
He enjoyed spending his time with friends and family, making people laugh and was always ready with a joke. He was in his day an avid cyclist, a trumpet player and a lover of the seaside. John most enjoyed summer nights in the A-frame family house his father Donald constructed over 50 years ago on Hog Island.
He is survived by one daughter, Andrea Abbott; two sons, Jonathan McClurg and Jason McClurg; one sister, Nancy McCaughey of Lincoln; three brothers, Dennis McClurg, Douglas McClurg, and William McClurg; five grandchildren, Christopher McClurg, Shelby McClurg, Apollo Pernell, Theo Pernell, and Jacob McClurg; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and close friends are invited to a service held Sunday, December 5, 2021 in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Visiting hours are from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m with a service at 5:00pm.
