Jeffrey Clauson Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffrey P. Clauson, who left us on May 26th, 2024, in Meriden, Connecticut. Born on May 9, 1972, Jeff was the beloved son of the late Harry J. Clauson and Janice (Beaudoin) Clauson, nephew to Paul Tucker of Smithfield, RI, and the loving father of his son, Rye of Killingly, CT.

Jeff's early years were filled with joy and adventure, thanks to his wonderful parents who took him on numerous road trips and vacations across the scenic country roads of New England. There were trips to the lakes of Maine, the beaches of Cape Cod, the Alpine Slide in New Hampshire, the Big E in Springfield, Rocky Point and Six Flags amusement parks, and the small towns of Vermont and Western Massachusetts. He inherited the travel gene from his parents, developing a lifelong passion for adventure and spontaneity.

An avid snowboarder, Jeff seized every opportunity to hit the slopes of Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire. Snowboarding was a source of immense joy for him, and those fortunate enough to join him on ski trips fondly remember not just the exhilarating runs but also the lively post-slope gatherings at nearby pubs, filled with food, drink, and endless laughter. Jeff also loved spontaneous trips to Narragansett Town Beach, where he would bodyboard and surf, reveling in the big waves brought by tropical storms and hurricanes off the Atlantic coast.

During his high school years, Jeff excelled as a cross-country track runner at Cumberland High School, where he served as Captain of both teams in his senior year. He was one of the top runners in the Rhode Island state championship race in 1989 and the 3000 meters race at the 1990 state track and field meet. Jeff also participated in the Arnold Mills 4th of July Road Race on many occasions, once finishing as high as 11th overall. Jeff was also a trend setter in the Alternative Music scene introducing many of his friends to the Cure, Depeche Mode, REM and many others before they were mainstream.

After graduating from Cumberland High School in 1990, Jeff attended the University of Rhode Island. He went on to pass his Series 7 & 63 exams beginning his career at Fidelity Investments, later holding various positions in the financial services industry.

Jeff met Andrea Juliano in 2008 and they were married in 2010. Rye was born in 2015 and was everything to Jeff.

Despite the many health challenges and painful medical procedures he endured later in life, Jeff maintained an incredible sense of humor and a generally lighthearted disposition. His ability to find humor in any situation brought richness and happiness to the lives of those around him. Many who knew him would say that Jeff was the funniest person they ever met.

Jeff's legacy of joy, humor, and resilience will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Rest in eternal peace, Jeff. Your spirit of adventure, love of life, and infectious humor will continue to inspire us all.
