Cumberland - Jean (Hebden) Waterman, 98, of Angell Road, died Saturday, January 25, 2025 at The Friendly Home, Woonsocket, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. Waterman.
Born in Cumberland, a daughter of the late William D. and Janet (Kinniburgh) Hebden, she was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.
Mrs. Waterman worked as an office clerk for New England Telephone Co., retiring in 1985.
Jean and her husband enjoyed spending summers camping, especially at Dunroamin' on Cape Cod. She was a parishioner of Christ Church, Lincoln, and a former parishioner of the former St. John's Episcopal Church, Ashton, where she served as Directress of the Altar Guild. She was a former member of the Cumberland Grange, the Telephone Pioneers, and the Mr. & Mrs. Club at Four Corners Community Chapel.
She is survived by her children, Kathie J. Coutu and her husband David, Richard H. Waterman and his wife Judy, and Jonathan L. Waterman and his wife Lisa, all of Cumberland; one sister, Elizabeth Bertenshaw of Lincoln; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Hebden, Edward "Ted" Hebden, Dorothy Calvert, Janet Boyd, Gladys Mengel and Barbara Fugere.
Her funeral service will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 at 1:00 PM in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours prior to the service from 12:00 - 1:00 PM.
