Jean A. (Barnes) Pertain

Jean A. Pertain, 83, of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Alvah and Ruth (Jeffrey) Barnes. Jean was raised in Pawtucket and lived most of her life in Lincoln, most recently residing at Chapel Hill Senior Living in Cumberland.

Jean dedicated over thirty years of her life to Brown University, where she served as the Coordinator of Medical Faculty Affairs before retiring. A devoted member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, Jean enjoyed volunteering with Special Olympics Rhode Island and Camp Sunshine in Maine. She was proud of her Scottish heritage and was a long-time member of the Scottish-American Society of Rhode Island.

Additionally, Jean had been a long-time member of the Sitzmarker Ski Club. In her free time, she loved playing the piano, listening to music, painting, walking along the beach, and, most of all, spending time with her family.

Jean is survived by her two children and their spouses: Clark Pertain III & Jill Pertain of New Hampshire, and Sarah Ferris & Mark Ferris of Wyoming; one sister, Ruth Andrews of Lincoln; and two granddaughters, Tashi Ferris and Maya Ferris.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Friday, May 16th at 11:00 AM at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 126 Angell Road, Cumberland. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
