Greenville – Jean A. McGregor, 88, of Smithfield, formerly of North Providence and Hyannis, Massaschuetts, died Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Stillwater Assisted Living & Skilled Nursing Community, Greenville.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Phillips L. and Betty (Weavill) McGregor, she had lived in North Providence and Hyannis, before moving to Greenville twelve years ago.
Miss McGregor worked as a medical secretary for several doctors in the Blackstone Valley, including Dr. Robert Burroughs. She was a graduate of Pawtucket West High School, and served as coordinator of her class reunion for several years. She was a member of St. Luke’s Church, Pawtucket, where she served on the Altar Guild for many years. Her love of the ocean, and spending time on Cape Cod, led to her moving to Hyannis after her retirement.
She is survived by her cousins, Nancy and Paul O’Toole of Lincoln, Victor and Catherine McGregor of New York, Rev. Stuart McGregor of Cape Town, South Africa, Graeme McGregor of Cape Town, South Africa, Ernest McGregor of Cape Town, South Africa, and Sally and David Boisclair of West Kingston.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Moshassuck Cemetery, Central Falls. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the St. Luke’s Church Altar Guild, 670 Weeden Street, Pawtucket, R.I. 02860 would be appreciated.
