Lincoln - Janis Miles, 86, formerly of Lincoln, died on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence.
Born in Quincy, Mass., a daughter of the late William J. Miles, Jr. and Hilda T. (Garvin) Miles, she had lived in Washington D.C., before moving to Lincoln in 1968.
Miss Miles worked as a school teacher in Prince George County, Maryland, Jamestown and Pawtucket, before moving onto the Cumberland School District, where she worked for over twenty years retiring in 1989. She was a graduate of Salve Regina University and earned a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Maryland.
She is survived by one brother, William J. Miles III of Pawley's Island, S.C.; and several cousins.
A committal service will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Resurrection Cemetery, 261 West Wrentham Road, Cumberland. Family and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
