Providence – James Marshall Rhodes, 65, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at home.
Born in Providence and raised in Cumberland, a beloved son of the late Homer J.C. and Florence R. (Postle) Rhodes. He had lived in North Scituate before moving to Providence four years ago.
Mr. Rhodes worked in Cyber Security as a Sales & Account Manager for many companies and managed his own consulting business, JMR Associates, before retiring.
He loved to cook and spend time with his three sons, and was an avid sports fan, particularly of football and The Patriots.
He loved his classic westerns and often quoted lines from his favorite movies and songs.
He also enjoyed the outdoors and campfires. Whenever he had the chance, he would go for long walks, as well as hiking with his sister and family.
We will all remember him for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor and his generous heart, in which he often put others before himself.
He is survived by three sons, Jason Rhodes of Chepachet, Derek Rhodes of North Providence, and Michael Rhodes of Warren; one sister, Bonnie Caldarella, and her husband Michael, of Cumberland; one brother, David Rhodes, and his wife Debra, of Wellesley, Massachusetts; and two nephews, Jordan Rhodes, and his wife Stephanie, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Trevor Rhodes, of Boston, Massachusetts.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston MA 02241-7005 would be appreciated. Arrangements with Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
