James P. McManus

"Start spreadin' the news!"

James P. McManus ("Jimmy Mac") of North Smithfield, RI passed away on June 21, 2026, at the age of 74. He was the husband of Jacquelyn (Jacqui) Lima McManus for 36 years. Jimmy was raised in Cumberland R.I, the son of Martha (Walsh) McManus and the late John C. McManus.

Jimmy was a 1969 graduate of Cumberland High School where athleticism and leadership led him to become a member of the 1968 state baseball championship team, co-captain and quarterback of the football team, as well as the senior class president. He was also an avid golfer, devoted Red Sox fan and a longtime Patriots season ticket holder.

Jimmy retired from the New England Telephone company. He is survived by brothers John McManus (Elizabeth), Stephen (Michelle), and Daniel (Deborah); sister Jeannie McManus (Henry Trudelle); and many loving nieces and nephews.

Jimmy Mac was fortunate to be raised alongside his four siblings in a household where family and mutual love were paramount, which helped nurture his good nature and robust sense of humor. His genuine warmth made his home the beating heart of the family. He truly relished hosting weekly Friday night gatherings of family and friends, where, Jimmy's sense of humor was, as always, on full display. It went without saying that large important family celebrations would be held at Jimmy and Jacqui's home.  Most importantly, family was his love, and his family loved him dearly. Fond memories of Jimmy Mac will remain warm, alive, and cherished by so many people.  With apologies to Old Blue Eyes, Jimmy was:
