Lincoln - Jacqueline M. Unsworth, 81, of Parker Street, died Monday, November 10, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Thomas H. and Mary J. (Kelley) Unsworth, she was a graduate of the Dominican College of Blauvelt (N.Y.) and Rhode Island College, where she earned her master's degree in elementary education. She was a resident of Lincoln for fifty-three years, and summered for many years on Harbor Island, Narragansett.
Upon her graduation from Dominican College, she became a Dominican Sister for twelve years under the name Sr. Stephen Marie. She would later work for thirty years as an elementary school teacher at the Broad Street School, Providence, and upon her retirement from the city, as a teacher at St. Mary School, Cranston, St. Peter School, Warwick and St. Mary School, Providence.
She was a devout communicant of St. Jude Church, Lincoln, where she volunteered as a counter.
She is survived by one sister, Paula Bishop, and her husband, Richard of Johnston; one brother, Thomas H. Unsworth, Jr., and his wife Paula, of East Providence; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ann Mauricio, Mary Scaggs, and Stephen Unsworth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM in St. Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Family and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
